In St. Petersburg there are numerous clubs where you can listen to live music . With this post I will open the series on these clubs for travelers who come here know as well or ad where we can go at night to feel the unique bohemian atmosphere of the city that is considered the best in Russia to listen and be a musician.

Manhattan

The building of the former headquarters of the regiment Semionovsky where the Manhattan club. The entrance is on the central arch (When entering the arc immediately to the right).

Manhattan Club stands as an artistic club is located in a spacious basement (but somewhat dilapidated) of former military barracks building on the banks of the Fontanka canal. In this club there are concerts of young and creative musicians, regardless of gender of their music and where they are, as well as poetry readings and interesting exhibitions of painting and photography. In the second room is located a bar with beer, other beverages and even food. In this room there is a big screen with the live broadcast of the concert hall.

This club brings together people of different ages, not just young people. The atmosphere is aimed at balanced layers of local bohemian.

There is a pool. Care for non-smokers: in the club smoking in all rooms (though the ventilation works well and the smoke is not concentrated).

Hermitage Theatre and the Mariinsky Theatre Music Features

Now I am also developing alternative English my main website dedicated to Saint Petersburg. Although I find it harder to do in Castilian, but I have some interesting things in English. For example, I made the Hermitage Theatre page dedicated to the famous Hermitage theater founded by Catherine the Great.

This small (only 250 people, do not forget the ladies Cancano of the time) , but splendid theater occupies one of the five buildings of the Hermitage. It was built in 1787 by Giacomo Quarenghi in classic style on the site of the first Winter Palace of Peter I. The architect designed the room former amphitheater-shaped whose appearance is reminiscent of the theater in Pompeii. The theater was, in fact, the home theater of Catherine the Great and his successors. You can read more in English on this drama on my page
